Kane drops broad hint he’s ready to quit his beloved Spurs

- ■ by JEREMY CROSS

HARRY KANE has stunned Tottenham by admitting he could leave if they do not start winning trophies.

Kane (right) is a target of Manchester United, their neighbours City and Real Madrid and has put them on red alert after warning he will quit the London club if they don’t develop into winners.

The England captain said: “I love Spurs, I’d always love Spurs, but it’s one of those things.

“I’ve always said if I don’t feel progression in the team or it’s going the right direction, then I’m not someone to just stay there for the sake of it.”

Spurs have not won a major trophy since 2008 and

Kane’s patience is in danger of running out if the club cannot match his ambitions.

When asked in an Instagram interview whether he might leave, Kane said: “I couldn’t say ‘yes’, I couldn’t say ‘no’.

“I’m an ambitious player, I want to improve, I want to get better. I want to become one of the top, top players.

“It all depends what happens with the team and how we progress.

So it’s not a definite I’m going to stay there forever, but it’s not a ‘no’ either.”

He has also become the latest star to call on the current season to be scrapped if it cannot be completed in a reasonable time.

Kane, who will be worried about player burnout ahead of Euro 2021, said: “There needs to be a point where enough is enough. Playing into July or August and pushing next season back

– I don’t see much benefit in that.”

Meanwhile, UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin (inset) has insisted that the Champions League Final will not be played behind closed doors.

The Champions League and Europa League have both been postponed indefinitely but Ceferin says while some leagues may have to be played minus fans, UEFA does not want to do the same with their showpiece finals.

He said: “If there are no other alternatives, it would still be better to conclude the leagues without fans. I can say that I’m not thinking about staging the European cup finals behind closed doors.”
