HARRY & MEG WILL PAY UP..
(At some stage but they won’t be telling us when they do!)
PRINCE Harry and Meghan admit they have still not repaid taxpayers £2.4million for the refurbishment of their 10-bedroom home.
The royal runaways have refused to answer the Daily Star’s questions over the Frogmore Cottage debt, which they vowed to pay back when they quit “The Firm”.
A spokesman has confirmed the bill is still outstanding, but added: “The Sussexes will repay the Sovereign Grant expenditure.”
The couple have relocated to Malibu, California, but Lady Victoria Hervey reckons their move will annoy A-listers living in the exclusive area.
The socialite, 43, said: “It might make other famous residents move out.
“You’ve got much bigger stars than Harry and Meghan living there, like Cher.
“It seems very much like Meghan didn’t ever want to be royalty, she wanted to be a celebrity.”
HOW hard can it be to answer a question?
Ever since Harry and Meghan announced they would pay back the £2.4m to refurbish Frogmore Cottage, we’ve consistently asked the palace one thing. Have they paid it back yet?
And the palace have consistently said they cannot discuss it because it’s a “private financial arrangement”.
But now their spokesman has said the couple “will” be paying the figure back.
In other words, it hasn’t been paid yet.
Why not tell us this before instead of saying they “couldn’t” discuss it?
It sounds a bit like they avoided talking about it because it tarnished their image.
The fact remains that the British public paid a fortune for their swanky pad.
So despite what the palace says, this isn’t a “private financial arrangement”. It’s very much a public one.
They should just cough up what they owe the British taxpayer.
Then they can be free to make as much private cash as they like.
