SURVIVOR KYLE’S ON BOARD AGAIN

- by MIKE WALTERS

KYLE ANDERSON joins the PDC Home Tour tonight a month after fearing the worst after contracting coronavirus.

The Aussie star was quarantined for 14 days after travelling back from Britain with his compatriot Damon Heta.

Three days after making it home to Rockhampton in Queensland, the world No.45 developed a cough and feared he might be “next on the bill”.

But after seeing off the virus, he will plug into the PDC’S online party at around 5am to take on opponents 10,000 miles away in Sweden, Holland and Germany – Daniel Larsson, Dirk van Duijvenbode and Martin Schindler.

Anderson said: “I was isolated for 14 days initially but within the first three days, I developed a cough.

“During that time my uncle passed away so I said, ‘Stuff it, I am coming back to the family, I need the family.’

“If a family member passes away, the only thing you want to do is be with your family but lawfully I couldn’t.

“My cough didn’t get worse but it was more persistent.

“My wife and I got tested and my son, too, but it was only me that got positive.

“I heard stories that being diabetic you will be more susceptible to getting it – I am a diabetic and so straightaway that made me s**t myself.

“That made me think I am next on the bill. When it hits you, you do think more about the ‘what ifs’ more than the ‘okays.’

“There was one time at night when I woke up and I had a coughing fit and I thought to myself, ‘Is this it?’

“It was very real for me. I was scared to the point where I just didn’t know what would happen next.”
