WEB ‘CRACKPOTS’ CAN TAKE AN ICKE

- ■ by TIM REDIGOLO

CONSPIRACY theorists like David Icke should be nicked for spouting “lies” online, says a Tory MP.

Damian Collins is demanding “requirements in law” to stop people who repeatedly spread bonkers ideas on the internet.

Icke, 68, who believes the Royal Family are lizards, has posted baseless theories such as linking 5G broadband to Covid-19. He also accused the Government of deliberately trying to spark a second wave of the virus so the state could “take us back to the full lockdown”.

Mr Collins warned “disinformation can kill people” and added that the “malicious abuse of social media in a public health emergency should be an offence”.

A NEW drug proved so good at preventing HIV a trial was cut short to push it into production earlier.

An injection given every two months was 69% more effective at stopping patients getting the disease than traditional daily pills.

Kimberly Smith, of Viiv Healthcare, said: “If approved, this long-acting injectable has the potential to be a game-changer.”

The study had 4,600 participants in from around the world.

Billie played Baxter’s song Miami on the first episode of her new Apple Music show Me And Dad Radio.

Now Baxter is up for working with the Brit-winning star.

He told me: “I could tell straight away from her show that we’d definitely get on. We’d be interesting together and it was lovely to see how your music has this weird effect, going to Billie’s age group.”

On the show, Billie said: “Me and Dad just love Baxter, who has this crazy flow voice. His lyrics are too good and he’s got the coolest production too.”

Baxter, who is the son of late legend Ian Dury, below, admitted: “I didn’t know much about Billie. As the type of artist I am, I’m slightly dismissive of that glossy pop world.

“But I always thought what Billie did was interesting and, when I listened to the show, her and her dad were really nice, smart, recognisable people and she’s a great person to get a big-up from.”

Baxter released his new album The Night Chancers just before lockdown and is using isolation to write

a memoir called Chaise Longue, about childhood with his rock star dad. Baxter revealed: “I told my new manager I’d like to do a book, which was just me bulls **** ing, but it got me a meeting. At the meeting, I was so full of wild stories and nonsense, I even impressed myself.

“I’m now learning the effort it really takes to write a book. You can blag it to record companies, but the book world actually expects you to hand in your homework.”

He recently played a lockdown show with his son Cosmo, 17, organised by the Royal Albert Hall. Baxter added: “He’s a great musician and it was a very sentimental moment for me.”
