LAURA Whitmore throws her weight behind Mental Health Awareness Week with a poignant social media post.

The Love Island presenter, 35, is one of a string of celebs putting their names to an ITV campaign called Britain Get Talking. She wrote: “Now more than ever the perfect time to check in on ourselves and those around us.

“I’ve selfishly really enjoyed being home the past 2 months. I’ve laughed, I’ve cried, I’ve reflected. This week ask yourself: ‘How are you feeling?’ And listen to your answer. Today is a good day and I’m thankful for that.”

Laura is joined by, among others, telly stars Ant Mcpartlin and Declan Donnelly, both 44, ex-football manager Harry Redknapp, 73, and chef Gordon Ramsay, 53.

SNOWFLAKE United Nations leaders have been ridiculed for producing a politically correct “gender-neutral” language list which replaces “mankind” with “humankind”.

Penpushers at the global body want us to change huge swathes of the English language and ditch classic terms to “create a more equal world”.

The organisation said: “What you say matters. Help create a more equal world by using gender-neutral language if you’re unsure about someone’s gender or are referring to a group.”

The UN believes we should words such as “businessman” for the less malefocused “representative” and “landlord” for “owner”.

Other suggestions include “workforce” not

“manpower”, “chair” instead of “chairman”, “police officer” for “policeman” and “salesperson” instead of “salesman”.

Culture

But the list was met with widespread derision.

Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan, 55, said: “Imagine thinking that the one thing people are really worried about is that the word mankind might be offensive.

“We can’t go back to this c**p, can we?”

“We cannot go back to this culture war nonsense. I think people’s perspectives have changed.”

Rapper Zuby, 33, real name Nzube Udezue, last year identified as a woman to beat a female weightlifting record to “prove a point” in a row over sexchange athletes having an unfair advantage.

He said of the UN: “I remember when I used to respect this organisation.”

One critic posted: “A ridiculous waste of time and money. No wonder people think the UN are irrelevant and a waste of time.”

And another added: “Are we allowed to say son or daughter or will I get a visit from a police officer?”

Last year, Southend Council in Essex replaced words including “chairman” and “madam mayor” with gender-neutral titles.

And Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau drew ridicule after telling a woman to say “peoplekind” instead of “mankind” at a public meeting.

CORRIE veteran Bill Roache has been hosting live “cabaret-style” squirrel shows in his garden.

The soap veteran says the wild creatures are helping entertain him while he is not working.

Bill admits he has become so attached to the nest of squirrels that he has even forked out to build them their own tightrope.

The veggie actor said: “We’ve got so many squirrels coming in.

“They have just had babies and they’re all running round.

“We put a tightrope across the garden, they run along that. They get some nuts.

“So, we’ve got a cabaret going on in the garden which I’m really enjoying.”

He claimed: “With that, day goes quite quickly.” the swap gender-specific
