EASYJET FLYERS’ DETAILS HACKED
9m customers at risk
PERSONAL details of 9million easyjet customers are at risk after being accessed by hackers.
The discount airline has promised to notify customers by May 26 if their details have been compromised.
The cyber thieves stole email addresses and travel info for millions of passengers, as well as credit card details for 2,208 travellers.

The company, which has currently grounded all flights due to Covid-19, said there is no evidence the stolen data has been used by crooks.
The airline has not said exactly when the data breach took place, but it has closed the online channels used by the hackers.
A statement said: “We’re sorry this has happened, and we would like to reassure customers that we take the safety

■ and security of their information very seriously.”
Easyjet has contacted the 2,208 customers who have had their credit card details taken.
Criminals could use the data they obtained to target customers with “phishing” scams.
It involves them sending out emails, phone calls or text messages, claiming to be from a reputable company, in an attempt to trick victims into handing over money or further personal details.
Easyjet customers are being urged to stay alert to possible scams over the coming weeks as a result of the attack.
Robert Ramsden-board, from security firm Securonix, said: “This breach could have catastrophic consequences such as identity theft or ransomware being downloaded to personal devices that are used for corporate purposes.”
