GEORGE Ezra fears festivals are over because he can’t imagine huge gatherings returning following Covid-19.

The BRIT winner says he can’t envisage playing large festivals such as Glastonbury as he thinks social distancing will continue for many years.

George, who headlined Latitude, Isle of Wight and TRNSMT last year, said: “I have started thinking, what is our industry going to look like? Because what we offer is entertainment for people but how can you do a show?

“You get 100,000 people standing at the front of the Pyramid stage at Glastonbury and I just can’t comprehend that now.”

Speaking on his podcast Phone A Friend, the Shotgun hitmaker added: “I am lucky in the sense that I have no shows booked at the minute as I am busy writing and recording.”

Lockdown has turned mellow George into a bit of a monster: “I want to rip my clothes off and just scream!

“I have just felt a bit flat about it all.”

The songwriter is “keeping his mind and hands busy” crafting a third LP which is good for his mental health: “I can find myself slipping down little paths in my mind where I am like: ‘I am not sure this is the best place to be.’”
