Ari’s getting angry

BUT ONLY AFTER HE FINISHES STUDIES Yola Recoba

ARIANA Grande joined the Black Lives marches across the US at the weekend.

Following the death of George Floyd at the hands of a policeman in Minneapolis, thousands of people are protesting against racism and a culture of inequality, including Ariana, Halsey, Lauren Jauregui, Tinashe and more.

Parts of the music industry are plotting a blackout tomorrow in solidarity with the movement too.

BREAKOUT star S1mba is determined to stay King of the charts for years to come.

The Oxford lad is enjoying huge success with Rover, currently No3, and it’s no stroke of luck.

In fact he’s still at university studying sound engineering to ensure S1mba is top of the pop class.

He told me: “I feel like it would be a shame for me to not finish it, I want to try my hardest to finish.

“It will come in handy to a certain extent as well, I am producing, so it was one of those things I couldn’t teach myself but I have always wanted to do.

“A few people now have been like: ‘Why are you even bothering?’ But I feel like I need to finish it and try my hardest to get it done.

“This is something working towards.”

S1mba, real name Leonard Simbarashe Rwodzi, always knew he would be successful: “It didn’t come as a shock, you never know which song will blow up but I have always had the mentality that every one of my songs

Matter will. So when I released Rover I had it in my head like: ‘Yeah this will chart,’ but then when it started to actually happen I was like: ‘Oh my God this is actually happening.’

“It’s nice to be up there alongside those names and those people I have listened to for years.

“Now I am working against them to get to that No1 spot.”

Rover blew up after a Tiktok dance challenge went viral: “Tiktok is no different as to when someone promotes their song on Instagram,” he added.

“We are just being smart enough to use social media and Tiktok as a platform to make our audiences bigger. The songs speak for themselves.”

He has big plans in store with an EP coming and US tour plans when lockdown is over: “I have a few things already with American artists but can’t say who.”

PRODUCTION duo James Tadgell and Jon Clare – AKA Yola Recoba – already have a Top 20 hit and a Calvin Harris collab under their belts.

After years helping other artists gain a little dance flare (Jax Jones and Jess Glynne’s One Touch included), the twosome are ready to step out from their peers’ shadows.

Their latest single is twist on the Chris Isaak classic, Wicked Game, and it perfectly demonstrates

They told me: “We have loads of cool music we are really excited about and we are writing more and more.

“We are trying to be innovative with new sounds, not jumping on any bandwagon and keeping it creative.”

Next up for the boys? “Expect big songs, big energy, original songwriting and putting our own sound out there.” the to duo drop

LADY Gaga is on course for another bumper week. Still at No1 with Rain On Me, Mother Monster could land two more entries on the Top 40 including Sour Candy ft. Blackpink (No12), and Alice (No21).
