“I’ve got no desire and I don’t need the money, but my arm could be twisted over return”

CARL FROCH can never say never – despite accepting he’s happily retired and has little interest in ever stepping in the ring again.

It was six years ago yesterday when he brought down the curtain on his glittering career when a booming right hand floored George Groves in the eighth round at Wembley Stadium.

It was witnessed by the biggest crowd in British boxing since World War Two, with 80,000 people at the spectacula­r occasion.

Now, at 42, Froch is happily married to wife Rachael with their three kids, while he reckons he has doubled his career investing wisely.

Life is perfect but the fighter in him, which made the Nottingham man a two-time world champion, means every so often, especially when Joe Calzaghe or Mikkel Kessler get mentioned, there’s a glint in his eye.

And even in April he joked he wanted Calzaghe out of retirement for a clash between two of Britain’s great super-middleweig­hts.

“‘I’m so financiall­y secure there earnings is no money motivation,” said ‘The Cobra.’

“You’re putting your life at risk to earn money and money you don’t need. So what’s the point? My legacy is intact.

“The desire is gone as well. When the desire goes, you have to be honest with yourself.

“I have thought about it a little bit. I retired in such a good spot of my career, it’s just stupid even to think about it but you do as a fighter.
