THANKS A LOTTI

Richarlison in Carlo salute

- ■ by DAVID MADDOCK

RICHARLISON believes that “smart and demanding” Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti will deliver glory at Goodison Park.

The Brazil international has returned to training at the club’s Finch Farm complex after a period of lockdown in his homeland admitting he is impressed by the Italian manager’s open dialogue with his players. And the forward is confident playing for one of the great coaches will help both his individual development and the growth of a young Toffees team. “I have the honour to say that I am trained by one of the best coaches ever, who sees the game like few others and has a mentality that favours attacking and searching for victories,” said

Richarlison.

“Carlo is a coach who is competitive and very smart and likes to have a team that is also that way – he demands the best from us.

“I have been trying to learn as much as possible every day we have been together for training or matches. He knows how to chart the path for us to play our best.”

Everton have stepped up their training to be ready for action on June 20, with the Toffees preparing for a derby clash with Liverpool. But in the longer term, Richarlison believes Ancelotti will help fast-track the club’s young players like himself on the road to honours. “I think exchanging ideas is a very important thing in a team that wants to become stronger and more competitive,” he said.

“It’s really a great thing to be able to have this open dialogue with our staff and to contribute in some way.”

Already, that has been seen in the results under the Italian, who was confirmed as the new Toffees boss on December 21 last year, just before the 0-0 draw with Arsenal.

When he replaced Marco Silva, they had already lost nine matches in the league but since then have been beaten only three times. Richarlison added: “The team adapted quickly to the manager’s style and is responding well to his ideas.”
