Kirk: Don’t Klingon to any hope of aliens
‘No such thing as aliens’ claims Star Trek skipper
STAR Trek legend William Shatner says it’s “absurd” to believe aliens have ever visited Earth.
The actor travelled through the galaxy as Captain James T Kirk “seeking out new civilisations”.
But in reality, he thinks we are alone in the universe.
Shatner said: “So aliens from tens of thousands of light years away have made their way here and are hovering someplace but not revealing themselves? I mean it’s absurd. But I am intrigued by the subject. I’m an agnostic!”
Wacky
Shatner will explore the weird and wacky in his new Sky History series The Unxplained next week.
The 89-year-old has spoken in the past of wanting to be a space tourist. But he laughed: “I’m thinking, ‘Do I want to leave the swimming pool? Do I want to jeopardise my life?’”
However he does enjoy meeting people who have had unusual experiences that cannot be rationally explained as it gives him food for thought.
The sci-fi star, who appeared in the original Star Trek series and seven movies, said: “I love talking to those people who have had ‘an incident’ and exploring what it is they experienced.
“There are instances of accredited people who have seen aliens, like airline pilots and military pilots – not just somebody in the Florida woods that got picked up and was examined by a spaceship.”
He added: “There’s one event where military pilots scrambled for an unknown object in the sky and they were chasing it and it just left them standing.
“It went so fast they couldn’t keep up. It’s that kind of thing that makes you scratch your head.”
STAR Trek legend William Shatner says aliens don’t exist.
That doesn’t give ET fans much hope to Kling-on to!
