ASTRID DOES DANCE ALONE

MEG TWERK FROM HOME

-

STUDENTS in the US may not have had their usual graduation ceremonies due to the global pandemic but a gymnasium full of stars tried to make up for it.

Pregnant Katy Perry led a special Class Of 2020 Youtube event organised by the Obama family on Sunday night, singing Firework and pleading with graduates to “make the world a better place”.

Lizzo showed off her flute skills, Lady Gaga

encouraged kindness and

Beyoncé slammed the music industry as still “very sexist” during her message to students.

Meanwhile, Taylor Swift

revealed her own high school graduation wasn’t what she had hoped as her diploma had to be mailed to her.

Finally, headmaster Bono sang U2 classic Beautiful Day and gave a thought-provoking speech on US racism.

He said: “As an Irishman, I’ve always believed that America is not just a country, it’s an idea, it’s a dream.”

IF you are having a bad day, Astrid S has the musical remedy for you. The Norwegian star’s latest single Dance Dance Dance was written about feeling self-conscious and distancing herself from her friends.

Astrid explained: “I could’ve avoided feeling that way if I’d talked to a friend about it. But I’m glad I didn’t because then I wouldn’t have written this song!” The song’s timing couldn’t be better.

I DON’T recall anyone twerking or doing the splits for me when I graduated, but that’s what the Class Of 2020 received from Megan Thee Stallion on Sunday night.

The star delivered a nine-minute medley of hits from her home especially for students unable to attend a real school ceremony.

Highlights included Big Ole Freak, a kitchen breakdown during Savage and a brilliant closing message: “Have yourselves a Hot Girl Summer.”
