TONE YOUR TUM

1. Waist whittler

Lie on your side, propped up on your elbow with your forearm on the ground. Push your body up as high as you can, then lower again. Count two seconds as you rise, hold for one second, then lower. Repeat 15 times on each side.

2. Torso trimmer

Sit on a chair with your upper body straight. Put your right hand on your left shoulder and vice versa, so your upper body pose is upright. Twist as far as you can to the right, then return to the centre. Repeat 15 times on each side.

3. Pedal pusher

Lie down with your back pressed into the floor. Bring your hands behind your head. With your legs bent at a 45-degree angle, bring the right knee into the chest while straightening out your left leg. Rotate your top half so your left elbow goes to your right knee, then switch to the other side. Repeat 15-20 times, completing three sets.

PARK LIFE

Take the family or your partner to the park and get everybody moving about. Take a ball for a fun game of footie or a kite to fly if the weather is windy enough. Just get outside, enjoy nature and burn some extra calories in the process.

1. Make a list: Whatever your goal, write it down and stick it on the fridge as an inspirational nudge for those tougher moments.

2. Recruit the whole household: Research shows support from loved ones makes you much more likely to stick to your health plan.

3. Be patient with yourself: It takes time and effort to adjust to a new diet and exercise regime, especially in these uncertain times. You may also feel tired or hungry to begin with, but stick with it as these feelings pass after the first few days and will be quickly replaced with greater energy levels.

4. Take it one day at a time: Setting small steps helps you to stick to your diet and exercise goals without feeling overwhelmed – life is stressful enough at the moment, so take it slow.

5. Celebrate every small win: This might be your clothes feeling a little looser, losing your first pound or simply feeling more energetic than you have for a long time.
