Sex pays well but I’m hating myself

-

that I’m prostituting myself. My parents think I run a successful beauty business, but I haven’t waxed or plucked in ages.

They boast I’ve got the Midas touch and that I will be officially recognised and made a Dame one day.

They love me so much yet I’m such a disappointment.

I lie and bluff my way through family conversations and hate what I’ve become.

I don’t hate my clients – just the fact that turning tricks is the only way that I can achieve the lifestyle I feel I deserve.

How did I manage to fall so far from grace?

JANE SAYS: The reality is that there’s no such thing as easy money.

I suspect you went into this current line of work thinking you’d make a fast buck without any consequences.

But I get the distinct impression that entertaining clients for cash is now affecting your mental health.

You hate lying to your parents but feel you have to keep up the pretence of being a successful woman because that’s the narrative you’ve spun for yourself.

But never forget that your family loves you very much and they will want you to be happy, safe and contented.

At the moment it looks as though you have backed yourself into a corner, but there is always a way out.

You won’t be letting yourself down if you call a halt to entertaining your clients.

I understand that the earnings are attractive – but you can break this cycle.

Speak to your most trusted or reasonable relative and explain that you are in over your head.

Ask he or she not to judge while you tell your story, then ask for help and support.
