Chart-topper Kiesza is making uplifting music again after her career stalled due to a car accident. New single Love Me With Your Lie is plucked from her upcoming album Crave and she said: “This album is intended to lift you up.”

COMEBACK singer

felt “dumped into a corner” after winning a string of awards.

Jack scooped the prestigious BRITS Critics’ Choice and BBC Sound Of prizes back in 2016, but success took its toll. He told me: “When I won those awards, I was dumped into a corner I didn’t want to be in.

“The other winners of both of those awards are Ellie Goulding, Adele and Sam Smith – and the music I make is nothing like theirs.

“The same is true of those other singers, though: no two of the four of us sound the same, so I started worrying, ‘How can we all win the same prizes?’ Pressure can be great for your creativity, but the pressure of those awards wasn’t good, as it made me try to create music that wasn’t worthy of other people’s attention or time.”

Jack’s debut Phase reached No3 but perhaps didn’t match the likes of Adele, but he has come to terms with that, noting: “I expect greatness from myself, but without obsessing so much that I start ruining the work I’m doing.” Back after four years, the multi-instrumentalist wasn’t sure if he should write about his struggles on new album Love, Death And Dancing.

Talking about his battles with depression, Jack told me: “Me and my co-writer Henry Brill had a conversation of, ‘Is this what people will want to listen to?’ We quickly realised it didn’t matter, because the songs

needed to be raw, so we went, ‘Let’s just do this.’”

Jack scrapped an album’s worth of songs before his new-found honesty, admitting: “Those cancelled songs were only of a level of, ‘Yeah, these will do…’ That hurt me the most, because I betrayed myself, working so hard on songs that I eventually realised I wasn’t that proud of.”

Love, Death And Dancing is out now and Jack will stream a film to accompany the LP online Monday.

WE may not see prog legend Rick Wakeman perform live with a band again.

Rick, who releases new album The Red Planet soon, said: “My medical history is not great.

“With my piano shows it’s just me, not lots of people in a band or crew.

“But there is no way I will do anything that will put myself or the audience in the remotest possibility of danger.”
