POORLY BABS IS ONE IN MILLION

- By TIM REDIGOLO

DAME Barbara Windsor is sitting on a £1million nest egg despite not working for four years.

She quit Eastenders as Queen Vic landlady Peggy Mitchell in 2016 and husband Scott Mitchell later revealed she had Alzheimer’s.

Figures from her company Sauce E for last year show it has £987,437 in cash in its coffers. Scott, who ran the

London Marathon to raise awareness of Alzheimer’s, revealed the toll the illness is taking on Babs, 82.

He said: “I still love the bones off the woman, but it’s not the Barbara I knew.

“Her life has been incredible and to think that there is so little memory of that now is just awful.”

BLACKFACE make-up is to be banned at The Peebles Beltane Festival in the Scottish Borders.

Organisers said they will not tolerate anyone in the fancy dress contest who has blackened their face.

A TIGHTROPE walker dodges lava bombs as he inches across a slackline over an active volcano in this terrifying photo.

German Alexander Schulz, 28, below, and Brazilian Rafael Bridi, 33, set a world record by completing the death-defying challenge together.

The daredevils crossed the crater of the Yasur volcano on Tanna Island, in the southwestern Pacific Ocean, on a 2.5cm wide strip of webbing.

Flames shot up as they walked across the 260m long line which is not only the longest, but also the first slackline over an active volcano.

The volcano is among the most active of its kind and is unpredictable due to its frequent eruptions and lava bombs.

The pair said the lava bombs, which are several hundred degrees hot, as well as the sulfuric acid, which threatened to damage the slackline, were the greatest dangers.

Alexander said: “There is the additional threat of catapulted glowing rocks. It felt like they could have hit me at any moment.”
