Back with new album Look For The Good, the platinum selling singer agrees with The 1975 and Massive Attack, who want to change tours post pandemic.
Jason told me: “It’s going to be reinvented, it will be more conservative to help the environment and economy of touring.
“Touring is not great for many artists, especially young ones, because it costs so much money.
“We need to figure new ways of reaching people worldwide after all this. Gatherings like Glastonbury will never go away I hope, but may become the exception, and the rest of touring will be smaller and transformed entirely.
“If we never tour again I feel like one of the lucky ones who got to see world before it changed.”
Isolation hasn’t impacted Jason too much as he lives on a farm in the US. He said: “My life is pretty rural. It’s nice witnessing a wildlife remediation though, giving the skies back to the birds and the streets back to the foxes.”
Jason’s new album is a love letter to his reggae influences and his home was actually based on Bob Marley’s house in Jamaica.
He explained: “I bought my farm house back in 2004 right after I visited Kingston Jamaica.
“I was touring a lot, so we found this compound and I based it on Bob’s compound.
“So friends and bands can come play, grow your own foods and there’s studio in the back garden to get creative.
“Bob’s gave me a lot of insight.”
