St Paul’s atrocity stopped

- ■ by STEVE RICHMOND

A MUSLIM convert wanted to die blowing up St Paul’s Cathedral and shooting lots of “kuffar” – meaning nonbelievers.

Safiyya Amira Shaikh, 37, plotted for Christmas then switched to Easter, the Old Bailey heard.

She did a trial run but her plan was thwarted by her undercover cop associate last October.

Shaikh, born Michelle Ramsden, of Hayes, west London, admitted preparing terrorist acts.

She said: “If I had choice I blow the church to ground. With kuffar in it.”

The sentencing hearing continues.

Can you guess the year from these five clues?

1. The first Captain America comic book is released by the company which later became Marvel.

2. By George! King George VI introduces the George Cross, the second-highest award in UK honours.

3. Hattie Mcdaniel is the first Africanamerican woman to win an Oscar, for Gone With The Wind.

4. Here Comes The Son! Beatles star John Lennon is born.

5. The Battle of Dunkirk takes place. The Allies evacuate 338,000 troops.

No Googling! Answer in tomorrow’s paper. Yesterday’s year: 1979

Posed by model who HAS tried haggis and DOES like it

HAGGIS, sushi and sashimi are among the foods picky Brits hate the most despite having never tried them.

Adults also turn their noses up at black pudding, lychees and cottage cheese. More than half refuse to eat them because of what they think they might taste like.

Bonnie Chung, of cooking brand Miso Tasty which did the poll, said: “As suspected, many adults are shying away from delicious ingredients and food types.

“Some people may be right following their instincts on their dislikes, but we reckon many would be surprised if they explored ingredients.”

A quarter of people only eat foods they were given by their parents when they were children.

Almost half admitted they were set in their ways.

Even typically British cuisine such as chips and gravy, cauliflower cheese and scotch eggs get the thumbs down, despite people never having tasted a morsel.

While one quarter of adults said they “hate” olives, nearly a fifth shy away from prawns.

And a fifth have never tried rice but still “don’t like it”, with a similar number also deciding noodles are not for them.
