SIR TO ARISE TO OCCASION

- ■ by JASON HEAVEY

SIR PLATO (7.40, nap) can put a smile back on the face of Tom Marquand at Chepstow tonight.

Eight days ago the six-year-old was an excellent second to runaway winner Gloweth over the course and distance.

He was nicely clear of the third and is back for another go off the same rating and he could not have a better man on board than Marquand, who has lost the ride on English King in the Investec Derby.

PEACHEY CARNAHAN (6.40, nb) also returns to the Welsh track after an impressive success last week. He should defy a penalty.

Others tipped to strike at Chepstow are the likeable

DAMAGE CONTROL (8.10) who ran To Nathaniel close at Kempton and will not mind any dig in the ground, and CHICA BELLA (5.10) who has shown promise in her two runs so far.

At Beverley

AIRFLOW (1.45) is worth another chance after glimmers of promise in his two races. He should be more at home over the extra furlong.

PERFECT ROSE

(2.15) showed a decent level of form in two runs as a juvenile and she had some nice horses behind her at Haydock when chinned by Kevin Ryan’s Rhea.

The latter franked the form when a close third in a Listed contest at Sandown.

EL PICADOR (3.45) holds strong appeal at a nice price. Fairly lightly raced for a four-year-old, he was a real eye-catcher on his reappearance when staying on at Wolverhampton into fifth behind Squelch.

Another horse who caught the eye first time out was OUR CHARLIE BROWN

(4.15) and he looks a sporting bet.

At Kempton don’t discount ANGELS WILL RISE (4.55) in the opener, who was highly tried on debut.

Finally, EMPLOYER

(7.55) ran an encouraging first race for Richard Newland at Newbury and is extremely well handicapped.
