Foxes boss wants to see a shooting star

BRENDAN RODGERS has urged Ben Chilwell to develop a greedy streak and cash in with goals.

Leicester’s £80m-rated left-back netted a 90th-minute wonder strike at Watford on Saturday and Rodgers says he wants to see more.

Chelsea target Chilwell’s swerving left-foot shot threatened to rip the net out and the England star goes into tonight’s home clash against Brighton with his gaffer asking for more.

Rodgers said: “Sometimes you just need that bit of a ruthless streak to not pass to a team-mate and have a go. It was a wonderful strike, absolutely sublime.”

It was only the third time Chilwell, 23, has hit the net this season but Rodgers added: “He has that in him.

“He has the talent to score more. He certainly has all the qualities, a wonderful left foot and great power.

“Hopefully there’s one or two more to come before the end of the season. I’ve been delighted with him since he came back. He’s looked rejuvenated and fresh.”

The Foxes boss has told his men to keep their eyes on the prize as they prepare to fight on two fronts.

It is a big week as third-placed Leicester chase Champions League football before an FA Cup quarter-final clash

Chelsea on Sunday.

Rodgers is under no illusions that no matter what he does, he is never going to match the fairy-tale Premier League title win four years ago.

“We’ve got plenty to play for to try and achieve what we want,” he said.

“We want to finish in the top four and go as far as we can in the cup.

“I mentioned to the players the other week not to let the sense of excitement get diluted by the enforced break.

“I said to them, ‘Listen, you can never beat that feeling of what happened here a few years ago. That will always be the greatest story in the club’s history. But you can write your own story.’

“This is an unbelievable opportunity to really achieve something special.” at home to

GRAHAM POTTER has given Neal Maupay the green light to keep winding up the big boys.

The Brighton striker was involved in a flare-up at the end of his side’s dramatic 2-1 victory over Arsenal on Saturday after he had scored the injury-time winner.

Arsenal’s players were fuming at Maupay’s first-half challenge on Bernd Leno, which saw the German carried off.

The goalkeeper appeared to accuse £20m Maupay (inset) of recklessness, while Matteo Guendouzi grabbed him by the throat in fiery scenes at the end.

Amazingly, the 21-year-old escaped any disciplinary action last night.

Both Brighton and Arsenal have been warned of their responsibilities but Potter does not want to dampen Maupay’s fiery qualities.

The Seagulls boss, whose side will be aiming to build on their win over the Gunners when they visit Leicester tonight, said: “That competitive attitude is part of Neal’s game.

“He has that competitive side, that edge, which is important. He is a fighter. “There is a line that he has to try and keep around, which I think he does well. “People forget that he is only 23, he is adapting to the Premier League.” Potter does not expect the incident to bother the confident Maupay, who has been booked four times this season. He said: “I don’t think this will play on his mind.

“He doesn’t care about what people say or think about him.

“He wouldn’t go on to the pitch to hurt anybody but if he has something to say, he’ll speak his mind.”
