EASTENDERS star Letitia Dean was told she looked like Albert Square poodle Roly’s backside when she joined the BBC soap.

The actress was only 17 years old when she landed the role of Sharon Watts – feisty daughter of Queen Vic pub bosses Den and Angie.

However, because she sported a perm at the time, Leslie Grantham, right – who played her TV dad “Dirty Den” – used to tease that she looked like their pet dog’s behind.

Letitia said: “Leslie used to say, because I had a perm back in the day, that I looked like Roly’s a**e.”

The star also admitted she lied to get her iconic role as Sharon in the 1980s

ALBERT Square will have a new eye-catching feature when Eastenders returns – a giant mural of a black woman.

Stars due back on set today posed in front of the artwork, which is on the side of the Beales’ house and was created as a tribute to the Black Lives Matter protests.

Artist Dreph said: “I’m happy my work will become the backdrop to future storylines.”

And show boss Jon Sen said: “Dreph’s mural is an exciting and timely addition that reflects events taking place in the real world.” because BBC chiefs only wanted cockneys on Albert Square.

She said about her audition: “We had to be born in the sound of Bow Bells and I think we all told a porkie. “Where was I born? In Barbara Cartland’s estate in Hatfield (Hertfordshire). “I said my parents had to go and work away, and I was staying with relatives in the sound of Bow Bells.” Letitia, 52, spills the beans about her soap days in Eastenders: Secrets From The Square tonight on BBC One at 8pm. real
