NETFLIX & SPILL7 ON WAGS ROW

Court battle could become hit series

- ■ by JERRY LAWTON jerry.lawton@dailystar.co.uk

NETFLIX is set to make a mini-series about Rebekah Vardy’s legal battle with Coleen Rooney.

The streaming service, which had huge success with its 2016 reconstruction of the OJ Simpson murder trial, has admitted it will be watching the saga play out in court.

And executives believe they could give the WAG war similar treatment to land another smash with viewers.

After a court list showing the time and date of a preliminary hearing was posted on Twitter, the official Netflix UK & Ireland account responded with a

“watching eyes” emoji.

One follower wrote: “@

Netflixuk get ready! Can’t wait to watch this.’’ Another added: “1st you had OJ

Simpson vs the people, now we can look forward to snakes of Cheshire.”

A third said: “Real life footballers’ wives.’’

Netflix series The People

Vs OJ Simpson, which starred Cuba Gooding Jnr,

Courtney B Vance and

John Travolta, reconstructed the 1994 murders of the

American footballers’ exwife Nicole and her waiter pal Ron Goldman.

Over 70million people streamed the show, which won nine Emmys, two Golden Globes and a Bafta.

Rebekah, 38, wife of Leicester striker Jamie Vardy, is suing Coleen, whose husband is Derby player-coach Wayne Rooney, for £1million.

She claims Coleen libelled her when she publicly accused her on social media of flogging stories about her private life.

Yesterday it was reported Coleen, 34, had tried to halt the proceedings, believing a costly court case would be in bad taste.

However the pair failed to reach an agreement.
