MILLWALL boss Gary Rowett wants to heap more misery on Charlton – despite feeling sorry for his old club.

Rowett’s Lions make the short trip to The Valley tonight hoping to rekindle their fading play-off hopes.

Charlton are battling to beat the drop under Lee Bowyer, who has had to cope with chaos in the boardroom and striker Lyle Taylor refusing to play.

Rowett, who was a Charlton player from 2002-04, said he

vKICK OFF 8.15PM felt some sympathy, even if Millwall fans did not.

He said: “They’ve had so much turmoil over the years. You feel sorry for the fact they haven’t had a lot of stability. They’ve gone from one owner to the next and it’s just felt like squad, you know they’re not just here for the money, or for the ride, they are here to improve Manchester United.

“Bruno’s been different class and that gives everybody a boost. From the day he walked in there’s been no ego about him, he’s just a top player.

“We’ve only seen him and Paul Pogba play for something like 219 minutes. they haven’t had a chance. Their struggles are not really my problem. It’s whether we can go there to win the game to put them in a difficult position.”

Millwall are 11th, five points adrift of the play-offs.

Rowett said: “We can still make it. In this division one or two wins changes the outlook very quickly.”

The Addicks have boosted their chances of staying in the Championship with two wins and a draw from their three restart games so far. And boss Bowyer feels his players want revenge for the 2-1 defeat at The Den in November.

He said: “A derby game’s a derby game. The atmosphere is going to be different but the passion on the pitch will be the same.

“The players know how important it is, they know from playing them away, when we got done on two set-pieces. I will make sure that this time that doesn’t happen.”
