Last to take his chance

- ■ by GARETH WALKER

ANDY LAST has been a Super League head coach for 117 days, taken charge of just two training sessions and overseen no matches.

In a time of unique situations, few in professional sport are more unusual than that of the

Hull FC caretaker boss.

The 39-year-old

(inset) has effectively been at the helm from his living room for almost four months, having been handed the role just days before rugby league shut down.

But the longserving former Black and Whites hooker, who has filled a variety of positions at the club over more than two decades, says he is relishing the challenge.

Last has been given until the end of the season after Hull’s poor form saw his friend Lee Radford sacked in March.

He said: “I’ve looked at the seven games we’ve played and tried to fathom areas that we can improve on and why individuals might not have been playing to the best of their ability.

“We’ve looked at anything that can give us an edge.

“It’s been a good time for selfreflection and self-development.”

Are you happy now Levy.. you couldn’t run a bath.. thanks for taking us back to the dark old days.. the unhappy cockerill

The drinks break is a joke. At the moment the weather is average in terms of temperatures, and yet the games are stopped for drinks. All it is is an excuse for a team talk on the pitch. This has to be scrapped now. Total joke. Mal the claret
