OUR NEO’S SO HAPPY TO ESCAPE THE CHOP!

Battered Staffy’s new life

- ■ by RUTH MCKEE ruth.mckee@dailystar.co.uk

STAFFORDSHIRE bull terrier Neo has found his “forever home” after he was rescued from a sick owner who battered him with an axe.

The 12-year-old was covered in blood when armed police saved him from his former keeper, who was later convicted of animal cruelty.

Neighbours called 999 after seeing the thug hit Neo and brother Santos with the weapon.

The traumatised dog spent six months in police kennels before moving to Freshfields Animal Rescue near Crosby, Merseyside, where he was nursed back to health.

Couple Connor Robinson and Millie Catterall, from Manchester, visited Neo to take him on walks, and they have now adopted him.

Millie said: “When we first met Neo he made both of us smile.

“He’s so happy when he’s snuggled between us on the sofa. He’s changed our lives and we’ve changed his. Neo has settled in brilliantly.” ★

This week’s winner is Jean Hilling – owner of Lulumea – who was nominated by her daughter, Carol Williamson.

Carol wrote: “Lulumea was born with fluid in the brain and only given a 10% survival at one year old.”
