Inquiry pledge by PM

‘DEATH RATE’: Sir Ed

BORIS Johnson has promised an “independent inquiry” into the Government’s handling of the coronavirus crisis.

The Prime Minister told the Commons it will help “learn the lessons of this pandemic”.

It is the first time he has committed to an inquiry, after repeatedly rejecting calls from the opposition to hold one.

Acting Lib Dem leader Sir Ed Davey said: “Under this PM we suffered one of the worst death rates in the world and Europe’s worst death rate for health and care workers.”

Downing Street has not given any details of how it will work, the format or a start date.
