SOLDIERS JOIN LABOUR FORCE

TWO British Army soldiers have been hailed as heroes for helping to deliver babies during the pandemic.

Sgt Wayne Delahunty, 35, and L/cpl Dan Ells, 25, jumped into action during separate call-outs to expectant mums while out with ambulance crews.

The pair, from 1st Battalion The Rifles based in Beachley Barracks, Chepstow, are among 60 soldiers who have been trained to

support emergency services in Wales. Their link-up is part of UK Defence’s 20,000-strong Covid Response Force, set up to put service personnel and reservists on standby in response to the crisis.

They said their time with the Welsh Ambulance Service was “remarkable”, a “magical experience” and “very humbling”.
