THE LITTLE ONES NEED LOVE TOO

-

WHILE we enjoy our newfound freedom, spare a thought for small pets as a life in lockdown is the only life some of them will ever know.

Despite the fact that rabbits are the third most popular pet in the UK, their care needs continue to be misunderstood with many people seeing them as easy to look after.

In fact, they need a lot of love and care – and can live a long and happy life if well looked after.

Our bunny Lily turned eight this week and many are shocked by her age but it’s actually within the normal lifespan for a rabbit.

As with cats and dogs, our smaller furry friends need love, attention and caring for – but sadly many of them are neglected.

To put an end to small animals suffering in silence, national pet charity Blue Cross is urging the public to do their research before taking one on.

Its head of veterinary services Alison Thomas said: “The needs of small animals are often misunderstood, resulting in them being left alone, suffering in silence in cramped and overcrowded conditions. With the right choices and care, they can make great pets.”

So before getting a small pet, really think about whether you can give them the time and dedication that they deserve.
