TOM Cruise’s Top Gun helmet and a Darth Vader outfit will be among the highlights of a £5million movie memorabilia auction next month.

More than 850 rare lots will be sold in what organisers have called “an unforgettable experience”.

The fighter pilot’s helmet worn by Cruise in 1986’s Top Gun is estimated to fetch up to £56,000.

And a Darth Vader promotional costume from the original 1977 Star Wars film has a guide price of up to £199,000.

An 11ft model of the starship Nostromo from 1979 sci-fi film Alien is expected to make almost £400,000.

Less wealthy movie fans could get their hands on Will Ferrell’s blue suit from 2004 comedy Anchorman for between £2,400 and £4,000.

Also up for sale at the two-day sale in Los Angeles on August 26 and 27 will be items from films such as The Hunger Games, Clint Eastwood’s The Outlaw Josey Wales and classic gangster flick The Godfather: Part II.

A SQUADDIE who lost a regimental ring made from his parents’ wedding bands was reunited with the keepsake thanks to an amateur detectorist.

Adam Ferguson, of Clacton, Essex, found the jewellery, which the 2 Para soldier lost while paddle boarding, in the River Stour at Dedham, Essex.

Adam said: “He was chuffed to bits.”
