IT’S WHAM, BAM, THANK YOU SAM

- ■ by JAMES NURSEY

SABRI LAMOUCHI thanked Sammy Ameobi for earning Nottingham Forest a point – but was left frustrated not to book a play-off spot.

Ameobi’s stunning double stopped Swansea in their tracks and boss Lamouchi said: “Sammy gave us good inspiration but one point was not enough for a play-off place.

“We started the game in the wrong way and we conceded the first goal. But it was a very 2 2 positive reaction in the second half from the boys.”

Swansea took the lead in the eighth minute with a brilliant left-foot finish from Liverpool loanee Rhian Brewster.

But Forest levelled in the 20th minute with Ameobi’s right-foot curler.

The visitors won a disputed penalty in the 45th minute through Andre Ayew.

The striker picked himself up and converted the spot-kick.

But Forest equalised again through Ameobi – this time a left-foot effort from 25 yards in the 55th minute.

Kyle Naughton was shown a straight red card late on and his Swansea boss Steve Cooper said: “To come here and to lead twice and not win is frustrating.”
