IT’S no wonder Tanya Maniktala is all smiles on the set of new BBC One drama Suitable Boy.
We hear that TV chiefs auditioned an astonishing 500 young women for the role of Lata Mehra until they settled on the stunning star.
In the show, which starts Sunday, Lata has to choose between three fellas as her “suitable boy”.

Her comments to promote her new BBC Two series Almost Australian – which starts tomorrow at 9pm – have sparked a backlash.
Outspoken Aussies have bombarded her with angry comments such as: “She complains about Surfers being tacky but have you ever seen Blackpool in the UK?”, “One bitter old aging pom”, “Revoke her citizenship” and “Send her back to pommy land.”
Miriam says of the furore: “That’s tough. I’m telling it like I see it.”
