have put 20th anniversar­y plans on hold due to the Covid crisis.

Next year marks two decades since the Scottish trio’s debut LP release and they had hoped to throw a party.

Drummer Ben Johnston told me: “We had planned something then this all happened so it’s going to be impossible to fit it all in with the new album. It will be a strange non-anniversar­y. We will have to wait for 25.”

Instead Biffy are focusing on finishing tracks that didn’t make it on to current No1 LP, A Celebratio­n Of Endings.

Ben revealed: “We have to record all the songs that are left over because Simon [Neil] writes at least twice as much as is on an album.

“So we have another album of B-sides, or an accompanyi­ng album, to record.”

titled Fingers Crossed tour for next summer because they aren’t convinced they will be able to perform then.

Ben, first right, added: “The safety of everyone comes first. We have to stand by and cross our fingers that we can tour and that people are able to come out.

“It is annoying having to sit at home – a massive part of what we do is about getting on stage and connecting with people.

“But there are worse things happening than a rock band having to postpone their tour. I’m not going to complain if we can’t.”

Meanwhile they’re enjoying how their latest LP is connecting with fans. Ben said: “Songs have taken on a new dimension and it’s interestin­g how on point the lyrics are for where we are now. Simon must be a clairvoyan­t.” to

IT may only be August but Magic Radio is already launching its festive station. It clearly figured we could all do with some cheering up and has premiered its 100% Christmas.
