IT looks like Nicholas Ralph – the star of Channel 5’s new adaptation of All Creatures Great And Small – might soon join the list of topless TV hunks such as Aidan Turner and Richard Madden.

He strips off for a dip in the new series based on the books by vet James Herriot, which starts next week.

But he was ordered to tone down his Scottish accent so an American audience could understand him.

Nicholas tells Radio Times: “They watched the audition tapes and said they couldn’t understand what I was saying, so I had to have a wee elocution lesson. James is now a well-spoken Scot so the show can make a transatlan­tic transfer.”
