GROUNDBOG DAY

Shops to ration loo roll as panic- buyers strike again

- By ANTHONY BLAIR

SUPERMARKETS have been forced to ration toilet paper after bog roll bandits started panic buying again. Shoppers pushing trollies stuffed full were

spotted leaving shops yesterday as photos emerged of store aisles stripped bare in scenes of “utter madness”.

Morrisons has now imposed a three- item limit on “essential” goods including toilet roll and disinfectant.

A spokesman insisted: “Our stock levels are good but we want to ensure that they are available for everyone.”

Other stores, including Asda, Sainsbury’s and Tesco are expected to bring in similar restrictions as panic buying grips the country.

At Morrisons in Leicester, midwife Sarah Milnes snapped a shelf almost emptied of multipack toilet rolls, describing it as “utter madness”.

While at Sainsbury’s in Warrington, Cheshire, a man named Daniel joked that shoppers were “obviously s*** ting themselves” as he faced stripped aisles.

And Daniel Smith said of an Asda targeted by Covidiots in Pipps Hill, Essex: “The shop was packed. People were panic- buying.”

IT’S just six months since the first great bog roll crisis of 2020.

Hordes of shoppers stocked up on toilet paper like it was the sweet nectar of the gods and the apocalypse was coming.

But that was quickly shown to be a pointless panic- buying frenzy that died down quickly when everyone realised the country was rolling in the stuff.

Despite everyone being far more prepared and experienced in lockdown matters this time round, many are doing exactly the same again.

And supermarkets have had to start rationing the quilted stuff once more.

Mother of God. There really are some cretins out there.

What is it about this mundane item that gets people into such a lather?

For the last time: no- one has said we are running out of loo roll.

Your actions are just selfish and stop those who really need supplies from getting them.

These idiots need to be flushed out.
