But the Portuguese sensation says he is willing to step aside and let someone else take penalties.

Fernandes, who arrived at Old Trafford from Sporting Lisbon in a £ 67.4m deal in January, has produced a string of blistering performances.

The United midfielder also has a 100 per cent record from the penalty spot, although he insists there is much more to his game and that taking them requires a lot of bottle.

He said: “We can’t talk a lot about penalties because everybody will say, ‘ Bruno only scores with penalties’. If the others score them, it’s no problem. They just score a penalty, you know!

“Penalties are part of the game. You have the chance but you need to score.

“I know everyone is talking about them like it’s easy but you can lose a final with a penalty. United won the Ch Champions League in Mo Moscow with penalties tie ( in 2008).”

Fernandes has scored eight times from the spot for United, the first of those in a 3- 0 victory over Watford in February and the last in the 2- 1 defeat by Sevilla in the Europa League in August.

The dead- ball specialist added: “For most people, it’s easy when you’re in front of the TV. ‘ Just look at the goalkeeper jump to his left, so why don’t you shoot to the right?’.

“I can shoot to the right but in my mind it was the left and the goalkeeper eeper saves it. It can happen.”

Fernandes has no intention of hogging the penalties at United just to boost his scoring stats and make himself look good.

He said: “It doesn’t matter take penalties. if I

“We have a lot of qualities in the team. I have already talked with some players.

“Rashy ( Marcus Rashford, above) was the guy who took the penalties. I told him, ‘ When you feel confident, if you want to take the penalty, it is not a problem’.

“I feel confident with penalties and I want to take them, but if someone comes to ask me, I will not fight every time.

“In that moment I can be tired or not prepared and can say easily, ‘ You take it’. The most important thing is scoring for United. It doesn’t matter if it is Bruno or someone else.”
