- ■ by MARC WALKER news@ dailystar. co. uk

SACHA Baron Cohen nearly got shot making Borat 2 when he enraged pro- gun nuts in America. The dad of three feared the worst when organisers with machine guns stormed the stage at a gun- rights rally after he sang a Barack Obama song.

The Brit actor, 48, famous for upsetting our cousins from across the pond, said: “I rushed to a nearby getaway vehicle.

“An angry crowd blocked our way and started pounding on the vehicle with their fists. I was fortunate to make it out in one piece.”

Former US leader Obama, described by critics as the “most anti- gun president in American history”, is a hate figure for the powerful firearms lobby.

Ali G star Sacha, wed to Hollywood beauty Isla Fisher, was wearing a bulletproof vest, but feared it would not be enough to protect him.

He said: “It felt inadequate with people outside toting semi- automatic weapons.

“When someone ripped open the door to drag me out, I used my entire body weight to pull the door back shut until our vehicle manoeuvred free.”

In the film, out on Amazon Prime Video later this month, Sacha poses as a rightwing singer at the rally in Washington State, where many attending are armed.

He sparked a riot by getting the crowd to sing: “Obama, what we gonna Inject him with the Wuhan flu.”

But organisers realised they had been duped, leaving Sacha running for his life.

It comes after the comedian sparked fury at an MMA cage fight in Arkansas for 2009 movie Bruno. His gay character snogged another man after challenging anyone in the audience to take him on.

Sacha said: “The crowd, including recently paroled prisoners with swastika tattoos, erupted in homophobic slurs and started hurling metal chairs at us.” do?
