TROUBLES: Southgate his £ 21.7m transfer from Spurs to Atletico Madrid in July 2019.
England boss Gareth Southgate said: “I don’t have influence on disciplinary procedure and that’s correct.
“We’ve had several pull- outs for different reasons over the last few months.
“Yes, we’d like to have had Kieran available but it’s an opportunity for somebody else. We’ve consistently had to look for alternatives.
“It’s very rare that we have a full squad to pick from.”
Southgate has already been forced to axe six players at various points over the last few months over off- field issues.
And he lost Ben Chilwell with a recurrence of his foot injury yesterday, too, opening the door for Ainsley Maitland- Niles.
Trippier insists he has never profited from betting on football, or from others doing so on his behalf.
But he could face a six- month ban if found guilty of passing on inside information from which others can benefit.
Southgate said: “There is not a lot I can say about that really. I have got to focus on preparing the team.”
He also brushed off talk of a club- versuscountry row with Spurs over Harry Kane.
The Three Lions skipper did not play against Wales and was only a second- half sub in the win over Belgium but is set to start against the Danes.
Southgate said: “I’m puzzled by the furore.
“There’s constant communication through the camp with all the medical teams. There’s no injury.
“We won’t make any changes based on fatigue. Nobody has been over- trained or over- played. We are free to pick whoever.
“It’s not an issue.”
