A shock draw for minnows

- By TONY BANKS

SKELMERSDALE UNITED, the lowestranked team still in this season’s FA Cup, will travel to face the Football League’s newest club, Harrogate, in the first round.

But initially they thought it was a clash with past FA Cup giants Bolton, rather than Simon Weaver’s men.

It was announced that the North West Counties Premier Division club, who play in the ninth tier, were drawn with the Trotters but it was swiftly corrected after the wrong number had been heard in the draw.

Skelmersdale striker Emini Adegbenro, who scored twice in the 4- 1 win at Stafford Rangers to earn their big day, said: “I thought we were going to be playing Bolton – I was going crazy! But this is a great draw.”
