JURGEN KLOPP believes the top clubs are facing a nightmare season like never before.

The Liverpool manager is fuming at the demands on players as football attempts to cram the same number of games into a drastically reduced schedule.

And he admitted he has never seen anything like it.

“It is different to everything have experienced,” said Klopp.

“Different to what every coach in the Premier League has ever experienced.

“In Germany they have less games and still find it incredibly difficult.

“Don’t see it as anyone wanting an advantage, just about players’ welfare, nothing else.”

Klopp says that it is impossible to have a squad big enough to cope with the demands of this season.

But he hopes this will be a pure one- off and football can return to normality soon.

He added: “Hopefully it is the only one, because we hope that life will change again and bring people back into the stadiums and life will return to normal.

“We are all waiting for vaccines, medications, solutions whatever.

“But at the moment that is our life and we deal with it.”

Crocked Kop star Fabinho will be missing for today’s home clash with West Ham.

And Klopp feels becoming champions again this season will be more about luck than judgment.

“All the teams are quality so that will always be influential, but you need to be lucky with injuries,” he said. “Some things we can influence, rotate, make decisions but whatever squads you have for the problems, they are not enough. “You cannot leave players out for four or five weeks because you do not need them and then you bring them in and they will be convincing, in the best shape in 100 per cent for the next game. I don’t think that is always possible.” Liverpool, of course, have lost influential defender

Virgil van Dijk season already.

But the Reds are hopeful he could be back around March after having successful surgery in London on his right knee.

The Dutchman damaged his anterior cruciate ligaments in the Merseyside derby, meaning a potential rehab period of anywhere up to 12 months.

But Klopp said: “The surgery was successful – the best news you can get. He’s as good as he can be.

“It’s clear to say he is a quicker healer. He can cope, it’s clear.

“It’s all individual what each person needs but we do everything we possibly can.” for most of the
