MINE’S A TREBLE

BRILLIANT BRYONY EYES HISTORIC BADGER BEERS HAT- TRICK

- ■ by CHRIS GOULDING

PAUL NICHOLLS is upbeat about Present Man and Bryony Frost making it an historic third victory in Saturday’s Badger Beers Silver Trophy at Wincanton.

The 10- year- old looked as well as ever when he made a victorious return at Chepstow last month. “Obviously he won the other day, he’s in good shape and I’m looking forward to running him,” said Nicholls, responsible for winning the three mile one furlong chase a staggering 10 times.

“It will be a great story if he can win it again. The key to him is having a dry week as that will be massive.

“Unlike my other horses, he was not right when he ran in the race last year ( pulled up).

“It would be awesome if he could do it with his owner Mark ( Woodhouse whose family sponsor the race) supporting the race for so long.” Nicholls is undecided about running his two other entries Danny Whizzbang and My Way but reports Cyrname to have taken his race well after he won the Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby in brilliant style on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Josh Moore is relishing the opportunity of partnering Goshen for the first time in Saturday’s Elite Hurdle at the Somerset track.

The jockey takes the reins as his brother, Jamie, is currently sidelined with an injured sternum.

Nobody will forget Goshen’s last appearance over hurdles when he appeared set for victory in last season’s Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham before unseating Jamie Moore at the final flight.

“He seems to have come good in himself again, having had the two runs on the Flat,” said Josh.

“In the Triumph he jumped brilliantly the whole way round bar the last, where he had a good look at it. His jumping is something that doesn’t worry me.” HARRY COBDEN celebrated the 400th winner of his career as Amour De Nuit defied a 617- day absence to make a winning return to action at Plumpton yesterday.
