SLAVEN SLACKERS FORCED TO REID

- ■ by MIKE WALTERS

TYPICAL Fulham – as the rest of us go into lockdown they throw off the shackles and break free.

As the Cottagers’ first win of the season, and a first clean sheet, lifted them out of the drop zone and dumped woeful West Brom in the bottom three, Baggies manager Slaven Bilic accused his team of lacking commitment.

Bilic ( left) excused Branislav Ivanovic and

Conor Gallagher rebuke but seven games without a win tells its own story.

He said: “Fulham were better in all the areas where it makes a difference.

“We were growing as a team but not tonight. It kills you when all of sudden you are 2- 0 down but you can see two players doing more than the others.”

With seven summer signings in the starting XI, Fulham boss Scott Parker has pinned his faith in wholesale upgrades.

Parker’s rebuilt defence is a work in progress but higher up the pitch they are no slouches and they fired two goals in four minutes. Bobby De Cordova- Reid’s close- range header after 26 minutes, when Aleksandar Mitrovic nodded Antonee Robinson’s cross back across the six- yard box, was nicely worked.

But a 25- yard left- foot rocket from Ola Aina ( inset) to make it 2- 0 was exceptional. nal.

Teed up by Mitrovic, i the Nigerian wing- back on loan from Torino caught it right on the button. Fulham were swaggering and at times scintillating. Andre- Frank Zambo Anguissa was £ 25m window dressing when they went down 18 months ago but he was inspired here. And where the visitors’ midfield circus i was pure Fred Karno, Cottagers skipper
