Connor’s box of tricks dumps Wolves out

Black and Whites coach Andy Last had refused to reveal whether he would unleash the enigmatic ace at stand- off or full- back following injuries to Jamie Shaul and Albert Kelly.

He opted for the latter and Connor rewarded his faith with three try assists and the match- clinching touchdown.

It proved enough to extend pre- match favourites Warrington’s title drought to a 66th year – and keep alive Hull’s hopes of reaching the November 27 final at their KCOM Stadium home.

But the Black and Whites responded, Joe Cator first to Connor’s well- placed kick and Sneyd adding a second conversion and drop goal before the break.

And within three minutes of the restart they were over again as Connor drifted across the line before picking out Chris Satae who powered over.

Warrington were on the ropes and could have been further behind had Faraimo passed inside to Josh Griffin with the line open.

But then the home themselves back into when winger Ashton second out wide.

Stefan Ratchford’s first conversion cut the gap to five points and they had chances to move back in front.

But Sneyd steadied any Hull nerves with a 69th- minute penalty before Connor added the crowning glory. side hauled the contest grabbed his
