DUO TO GIVE INJURY- HIT REDS A WELCOME BOOST

- By DAVID MADDOCK

LIVERPOOL are hopeful both Andy Robertson and Jordan Henderson will be available for Sunday’s match against Leicester, despite problems which forced the pair out of international fixtures.

Henderson was replaced at half- time during England’s defeat by Belgium with a back injury j and he has now withdrawn from the squad to face Iceland tomorrow.

Robertson had a tight hamstring after Scotland’s play- off victory over Serbia and was not in his country’s squad at the weekend, although he could face Israel tomorrow.

That is good news for Liverpool, who have already lost three of their recognised back four to injury, with centre- halves Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez potentially out for the season.

Trent Alexander- Arnold could also be out for another fortnight with a calf problem. But if Henderson and Robertson

are available for the visit to Anfield of Leicester, manager Jurgen Klopp will have some options.

Fabinho should be back in training this week and he can play at centre- half to cover for the missing duo alongside Joel Matip.

But Klopp will be without Mo Salah, who is quarantining in Egypt after contracting coronavirus.

Anfield, meanwhile, flew its flags at half mast yesterday after news that one of the club’s most famous sons had died.

Ray Clemence is regarded as the greatest keeper in Liverpool history after winning five league titles, three European Cups, two UEFA Cups an FA Cup and a League Cup in 665 games for the club.
