Isolated mate so jealous

- By DAVID YATES

MY oldest friend has stopped talking to me because I’m coping with the lockdown. Weird, eh?

I’m not being smug but I’m OK. I’m working and keeping my head down.

I refuse to be negative and say “fine” whenever anyone asks me how I’m doing because it’s the truth.

My friend, however, has struggled from the start. She’s moaned about everything. Now she’s furious because she can’t meet up with the boyfriend she’s met online.

I’ve refused to get drawn into her doom and gloom calls and now she’s cut me off. I’m hurt.

JANE SAYS: I suspect this is more about your friend meeting a new guy than anything else.

If she’s loved-up and desperate to experience his charms in the flesh then your friendship is the last thing on her mind.

Don’t get hung up on what she might or might not be thinking. Just wait to see what happens after lockdown.

It could be that you’ve irritated her as much as she’s annoyed you and that your friendship was on its last legs anyway.

CHELTENHAM is to build an ‘Olympic village’ to accommodate Irish trainers, jockeys and stable staff at the National Hunt Festival.

The Jockey Club, which owns the home of jump racing, has worked closely the British Horseracing Authority, Horseracing Ireland and the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board to provide a safe COVID-19 environment for Ireland’s participants at the four-day fixture.

Irish trainers, jockeys and staff, who will be tested for coronavirus prior to leaving for Cheltenham, will be kept on site in a controlled ‘green zone’ at the racecourse.

“The Festival wouldn’t be the same without Irish participants with many of the sport’s superstars, including Gold Cup hat-trick-seeking Al Boum Photo, coming from across the Irish Sea,” said Cheltenham clerk of the course Simon Claisse.
