‘Brazil’ carrier hunted

-

MATT Hancock last night urged a mystery traveller with the fastspreading Brazilian strain to come forward.

The Health Secretary asked anyone who took a test in the UK on February 12 or 13 and has not yet had their result back to come forward by calling NHS 119.

The sufferer did not put the right contact information on their forms after flying into the UK.

But they tested positive for the new variant of the virus that is feared to be more contagious and could defy jabs.

Public Health England has confirmed six cases of the Manaus P1 variant – three in England and three in Scotland – but cannot trace one.

Mr Hancock said: “We are trying to track down this individual.”

More testing was also under way in south Gloucestershire where two cases had emerged.

Another 104 deaths were announced yesterday, with the UK total now 122,953. A further 5,455 cases were recorded. And 20,275,451 first jabs have been given.

TYPICAL! Just when you think you’re getting to the end of a global pandemic, a bloody meteor comes crashing down to earth.

Luckily for those where the fireball landed in the Cotswolds, it wasn’t very big once it had made it through the earth’s atmosphere.

Only tiny bits of space rock are likely to have been scattered over the countryside.

So treasure hunters should stick to Covid rules for the time being and avoid looking for needles in a haystack.

But talk about timing. We’re all hoping for a glorious well-deserved summer of pubs, parties and holidays.

And Armageddon will wait its turn! just have to
