Harvey can still cap it all

ENGLAND hopeful Harvey Barnes has been told he still has time to book his ticket to the Euros.

Leicester winger Barnes, 23, was taken off on a stretcher with a knee injury in Sunday’s 3-1 home defeat by Arsenal.

Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers has declared he is out for an initial six weeks but can return in time for the Euros and add to his one cap so far.

Rodgers said: “He’s had a little section of that patella separated in the knee, which isn’t major.

“It has to be cleaned up, taken out. We’ll be hopeful that it’s not too long.”

Rodgers said that both Barnes and fellow injured Three Lions midfielder James Maddison have plenty to aim for before the season comes to a close.

He added: “It’s a big disappoint­ment for Harvey because he’s been so good for us this season.

“I’m disappoint­ed for him but hopefully he can still make a big contributi­on. Gareth Southgate has seen a lot of our games.

“Harvey and Madders will be back in time to produce for us and then hopefully Gareth will have a choice to make.”
