We won’t win anything until we step up a Gea

Keeper tells team mates: Do better or forget trophies

From Back Page say Solskjaer is not the right man to lead the club back to the top.

De Gea admits United have let their neighbours run away with the title and knows there will be no silverware coming to Old Trafford unless they start winning the matches that count most.

He said: “If we want to do something good and we want to win trophies and win the league, we have to beat these teams.

“We didn’t create too much. We created good counter-attacks but at the end the last pass wasn’t the best option. We gave everything but it wasn’t enough.”

Solskjaer is still looking for his first trophy since becoming boss in 2018 – and United face a crunch week that will define their title chances once and for all. They visit Crystal Palace tomorrow before a top-of-the-table clash with City at the Etihad on Sunday.

United legend Paul Scholes has slammed Bruno Fernandes and insisted the midfielder has to start doing more in the games against his side’s biggest rivals.

He said: “The quality has got to be better. The big players have got to step up. I can’t remember him (Fernandes) doing anything (at Chelsea). I don’t remember him creating a chance, I don’t remember him having a shot on goal.

“I don’t remember Edouard Mendy, other than a couple of times, being brought into the game. So the quality is disappointing. They’ve got to get it better against these big clubs.”

DAVID DE GEA has told his Manchester United team-mates they must start winning big games or forget about landing trophies.

United’s goalless draw at Chelsea on Sunday meant Manchester City now hold a 12-point lead at the top of the Premier League.

And the United goalkeeper blasted: “If we want to something good and we want to win trophies and win the league, we have to beat these teams.”

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (inset) has now seen his men draw a blank in their last six outings against other members of do the ‘Big Six’ – losing them vital ground in the title race. United were also trounced 6-1 by Tottenham earlier this season.

The recent bout of disappointing results against their main rivals has led critics on social media to
