NURSE! NURSE! HE’S OUT OF BED AGAIN!

Super rich hereditary peer says £24k a year NHS heroes are WELL PAID

- ■ by NADEEM BADSHAH

NURSES have been told how lucky they are to get a £3.50 a week pay rise… by a mega-rich lord. What a nob.

A WEALTHY health minister and hereditary peer was blasted last night for claiming nurses are “well-paid for the job”.

Lord Bethell, known as 5th Baron Bethell, was slammed for backing the paltry 1% pay rise offered to NHS pandemic heroes in England.

Harrow-educated Lord Bethell said: “There are lots of people who have had an extremely tough time and who face a period of unemployment. Nurses are well paid for the job.

“They have a secure job and they have other benefits.”

Furious Labour deputy leader Angela Rayner said: “Born into a job for life in the House of Lords and appointed a health minister after donating money to Matt Hancock’s leadership campaign tells our nurses they should be grateful for their pay cut – I don’t know where to start.”

Anthony Johnson, of Nurses United UK, who have been lobbying for a 15% pay rise, said: “I find it pretty funny to be told by someone who is given an allowance of over £150-a-day just for showing up that I’m well paid.

“Our pay is directly linked to the safety of our patients. When you cut our pay it drives nurses out of jobs we love and puts our patients at risk.”

LORD Bethell must have comments about nurses down well.

He isn’t stupid. After all, he went to Harrow, one of the best schools in the land!

But he decided to remove his spoon and give his opinion anyway.

Regardless of whether it was wanted or needed.

Exhausted nurses are already cheesed off about the insulting 1% pay rise offer.

The last thing they need is a posh man in a silly outfit rubbing their noses in it.

Lord Bethell cannot exactly empathise with a nurse struggling to pay the bills.

He was born into privilege and has never worried about his next meal.

That’s not his fault. But he’s hardly qualified to tell them they should be grateful for their “well paid” and “secure” job.

Perhaps he should try living on £24,000-a-year while dealing with sick and dying people on a daily basis.

But that would mean giving up his comfy seat for life in the House of Lords.

Not to mention the £305 he gets just for showing up, and the travel expenses we fork out.

Shut your trap posho, and stick to subjects you actually have some knowledge of. realised his wouldn’t go silver
