Billie: I was a wreck
BILLIE Piper has said her early experiences of being famous made her “cynical” and “jaded”.
The singer and actress revealed she has never worked as hard as she did when she first found fame as a musician and said: “It was the most punishing schedule ever.”
Billie left home before she was 18 as her music career took off, with early chart hits including No1 Because We Want To.
She said: “I think I saw a lot of things at a very young age, and I think some of that can be really good and means you see parts of life that you wouldn’t normally see, maybe ever.
“Then in other ways, it made me quite cynical, quite jaded and incredibly paranoid.”
Billie, 38, said that by the time she became an adult she was “so angry and so exhausted and burnt out”.
She added: “I also had met and been in a relationship with Chris Evans at that age, and he was someone who knew the industry, who knew how important it was for me to have some semblance of normal life.”
WHETHER she woke up with a Grammy Award or not this morning, Dua Lipa definitely feels like a winner.
The Londoner was the UK’S big hope at the biggest night in American music with six nominations. Ahead of the bash she cooed: “These things really only happen in your dreams, so I feel like, well, I’m hoping no-one is going to wake me up and be like, ‘All right, time for school!’ or something.”
Dua promised her performance would feature “a bit of skin, a bit of sparkle” and I’ll show you the result in tomorrow’s column.
