The Brighton star, real name Rory, wants his three-year-old boy Rubin to learn from his mistakes, a theme that runs through upcoming LP, Life By Misadventure.
Rory explained: “I am leaving stuff in my music for him. It has totally changed me as a songwriter. I called the record Life By Misadventure and it is a timeline on how I was not such a great kid.
“I am worried about his future as we live in a crazy time. It has played a big part in the music I have written since he was born.
“I want him to be free when he grows up and love who he wants to love. He does not have to be that man who keeps everything inside and told not to cry.”
Rubin is the most important thing in his life as he tatooed his first words on his face.
He said: “He would just walk around and drop stuff and every time say: ‘Oh no.’ So I got a tattoo of: ‘Oh no’ written on my face. And when my son grows up I am going to be: ‘That is you man.’”
Not that young Rubin is into his dad’s music, he prefers a different wind instrument via his smart speaker.
Rag laughed: “He wore himself out with the fart noises on Alexa, he realised he could say: ‘Alexa do a dinosaur fart’ which was hilarious to him.
“There was a couple of weeks of fart noises constantly.”
